Putting on a Front

The finished panel ready for fitting. The red arrow points out the fibre optic for the drive LED.
Before fitting the new front the FDD activity LED was replaced with a blue one and the intake fan was mounted using countersink head bolts after counter sinking the mounting holes so there are no lumps or bumps to prevent the front panel from laying perfectly flush.
The double sided carpet tape was used to attach the panel to the original front. That tape really sticks! Painting the back of the panel had made the grill recess invisible. Just what I was relying on. Phew! Floppy drive in action.
Close up showing the recessed fan grill. The HDD activity indicator with its bevelled surround.
